What is the unanswerable conundrum?

It’s a conundrums which is not easy to answer or no one success to to find the solution.

The accessibility of the conundrums depends on the complexity of the artistic image, on what expressive means it is created. If the image is created by words in their direct meaning, then guessing is maximally facilitated.
Also, everyone successfully solve riddles using such an artistic technique as comparison, if this comparison is close, it is understandable if children use this comparison in their speech practice. So it’s  can easily guess the riddle of Tail crocheted, nose with a piglet, because they are familiar with the comparison of a pig’s tail with a hook, and a nose with a piglet, they have heard it more than once.

Solving ability

Older preschoolers get acquainted with the living and inanimate nature, observe animals, birds, insects, their habits, lifestyle; they monitor the growth and development of plants, collect fruits and seeds; note changes in the weather at different times of the day, at different times of the year. Children take care of animals and plants, work as hard as they can in nature, in everyday life, and in the process of this activity and these observations, they comprehend many properties of objects, patterns that occur in nature.

They have significantly broadened their ideas about our Motherland, deepened their knowledge about human labor, about tools and objects of labor, about transport, modern technology and its purpose. Preparing for school, children show an increased interest in books and knowledge.

At the senior preschool age, the development of mental activity continues in children: more precisely, the processes of analysis and synthesis proceed, children master the operations of comparison, comparison, generalization, they can independently draw conclusions, inferences.

At this age, children show a great sensitivity to the semantic shades of the word, they begin to understand the meaning of figurative expressions in literary works.
Taking this into account, in working with five-six-year-old children, riddles are used especially widely, they diversify the topics: they talk about animals, birds, fish, insects, plants, natural phenomena and their laws; household items and tools of human labor; means of transportation, communication and information; about sports, people, literacy, books.

Older preschoolers can make riddles, both folk and literary; among them can be both laconic and detailed. Folk riddles can be used especially widely.

The characteristic of objects and phenomena in riddles can be brief, but among the signs an essential, characteristic must be named.

They beat him with a hand and a stick,
Nobody feels sorry for him.
And why are the poor fellow beaten?
And for the fact that he is inflated. (Ball.)

In this riddle, a few identifying signs are named (“they beat him with a hand and a stick,” “no one feels sorry for him,” etc.), but among them there is the most significant one – “he is inflated.” Isolation of this feature in combination with others provides an unmistakable guess – this is a ball.

Another riddle – a small dog guards the house (castle) – is more laconic. However, the most important feature is named in it – “the house guards”, which in combination with another (“little dog”) provides guessing.

Difficult riddles even for older preschoolers will be those that are complex in language and artistic images. They can be based on the ambiguity of the word: There are many teeth, but nothing is eaten (saw); Not walking, but walking (door); on distant comparisons: Not an animal, not a bird, a nose like a spoke (mosquito); there may be unexpected assimilations in them: Round mountain, every step, then a hole (thimble); unusual dictionary: White mansions, red supports (goose).

6 – 7-year-old children are offered riddles with more complex types of logical problems. The characteristics of the objects in them can be given briefly: one or two signs are named, according to which it is necessary to restore the whole and draw a conclusion based on reasoning: Always in the mouth, and not swallow (tongue). Riddles are widely used, the guessing of which is based on the gradual elimination of incorrect comparisons: Cheren, not a raven, a horn, not a bull, with wings, not a bird (beetle), on comparing and comparing objects and isolating similar features, i.e. metaphorical riddles.

Given the sufficient life experience, developed observation, the ability to reason, children are offered riddles, which can only be guessed after long-term repeated observations of one phenomenon: Young – looks like a sickle, will live – will become like a cake (month, moon).

Let’s consider several riddles on the same topic to determine the possibility of their application in a particular age group.
